چکیده

Walls & Negroni (1966) reported the isolation in tissue culture of a transformed but non-malignant clone of cells from a polyoma virus-induced fibrosarcoma of C3H Bi mice. These cells, when inoculated into C.AH Bi mice, did not grow as tumours but immunized the animals against malignant cells derived from the same fibrosarcoma. Furthermore the serum from mice thus immunized prevents the growth in vitro of both malignant and non-malignant polyoma virus-transformed cells (the colonyinhibition test, Hellstrom & Sjogren, 1965). We describe in this note the morphological changes observed by electron microscopy in these cells treated with such immune serum in the presence of fresh guinea-pig complement. These changes provide an explanation for cell death and growth failure in vitro.

Limitations and utility of a cytolytic assay for measuring simian virus 40-induced cell surface antigens.

Antisera were produced against an SV40-transformed cell line in the syngeneic AL/N mouse. With a microcytolytic assay, the specificity of antisera produced by various immunization schedules and their ability to lyse numerous SV40-transformed cell lines were determined. Various AL/N mouse cell lines, newly transformed by SV40 and cloned, were found to be lysed by the antisera. When tumors were i...

Urine Cytology: Useful Screening Method for Polyoma Virus Nephropathy in Renal Transplant Patients

Polyoma virus nephropathy occurs in 3% to 4% of renal transplant recipients, causing graft loss in 50% of cases. The objective of the present study was to explore the effects of age, sex, post-transplantation period and plasma creatinine levels on the polyoma virus infection in kidney transplanted patients. Urine samples were collected from 362 patients, centrifuged and microscopic slides prepa...

بررسی تأثیر سرم موش حامله بر روی سلولهای دندریتیک در القاء تحریک لنفوسیت‌های T و تولید سیتوکین‌های IL-10 و IFN-γ Dendritic Cells and Antigen Specific T Cell Responses: Effect of Pregnant Mouse Serum

Background & Aim: Tolerance to the semi-allogenic fetal graft by the maternal immune system is a medical enigma that has stimulated investigations for a half of century. Several hypotheses have been proposed to explain the tolerance of mother to the fetus. The successful pregnancy is proposed and proved by many scientists to be a Th2 dominant phenomenon. This hypothesis is proved in most as...

Antigenic Differences between Normal and Polyoma Virus-transformed Cells. Ii. in Vitro Evidence for a Virus-induced Antigen.

that cells transformed by the polyoma virus possess a specific antigen which can be detected by trans plantation experiments. It would be desirable, for many reasons, to identify this antigen by an in vitro reaction. For this purpose, attempts to prepare heterologous anti sera selective for polyoma-transformed hamster and mouse cells were made. A set of experiments, already reported (1), failed...

Expression of various tumor-specific antigens in polyoma virus-induced tumors.

I h e qu a n t i t ative expression of tumor-specific transplantation antigen, tumor-specific cell surface antigen, and T-antigen in polyoma virus-induced tumors was studied. A mouse polyoma virus-transformed cell line (4198) and its variant line (4198V) were both shown to possess polyoma tumor-specific transplantation antigen, but the variant line was more immunosensitive. The 4198V cells had ...
